Repetitive Strain Injuries

Repetitive Strain Injuries is defined by Wikipedia as an injury of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems that may be caused by repetitive tasks, forceful exertions, vibrations, mechanical compression (pressing against hard surfaces), or sustained or awkward positions.  This injury is prevalent among heavy computer users and especially those using laptops or other un-ergonomic touch pad solutions for using the mouse and keyboard.  This injury can creep up on you over time and once your body starts reacting to the overuse, it takes an incredible effort in the other direction to relieve or reverse the symptoms.

At Hands Free Poker, we strive to remove as many of the repetitive movements involved with online poker gaming as possible, to alleviate these types of problems.   We find many heavy computer users out there are struggling from this silent pain and have even trained themselves to get used to the pain and try to ignore it.  There is not a worse idea than ignoring your body’s signals to take a break, do some stretching, and walk away from the machine.  You can read an article from our found here titled ‘Ergonomics and Online Poker’ that has some helpful hints for avoiding repetitive strain injuries involving overuse of the computer.
